Blazon Research Tools
Statistical Converter
Convert common statistical quantities, test statistics and effect sizes with transparent formulas, assumptions and calculation steps.
Designed for academic, clinical and biomedical researchers working with study results, manuscripts and meta-analysis data.
Calculations run entirely in your browser. Values you enter are not uploaded to or stored by Blazon Scientific. No AI is used. Read the privacy details →
Validated against 215 automated checks, with 177/177 independent R comparisons passed. See validation details →

Why use the Blazon Statistical Converter?
See the calculation
The converter shows the formula, methodological qualification and manuscript-ready wording rather than returning an unexplained number.
Know when not to convert
Design-dependent safeguards prevent ambiguous routes—such as Welch t to pooled-SD Cohen’s d—from quietly producing a plausible but inappropriate answer.
Private by design
Your statistical values stay in the browser. The calculation engine makes no remote calculation requests and uses no AI.
Built for researchers
Conversions are organised around common manuscript, evidence-synthesis and study-reporting workflows.
Statistical conversions available
- Precision: SD ↔ SE, variance ↔ SD, and confidence interval ↔ SE. SD and SE guide → CI and SE guide →
- Test statistics: t, z, χ² and F statistics → P values. P values from test statistics →
- Effect sizes: Cohen’s d ↔ Hedges’ g, r ↔ Fisher’s z, t → r, t → d or dz, and F → partial η². Test statistics and effect sizes →
- Ratio measures: OR, RR and HR + confidence interval → log effect + SE. OR, RR and HR for meta-analysis →

Blazon Scientific services
Need help with a more complex analysis?
Blazon Scientific provides statistical analysis, data analysis and evidence-synthesis support for academic, clinical, pharmaceutical and biotech research.
For analyses that go beyond a direct statistical conversion, specialist support may be more appropriate than forcing the problem into a calculator.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert standard error to standard deviation?
For the standard error of an arithmetic mean, multiply SE by the square root of the sample size. The converter performs the calculation and shows the formula used.
How do I calculate a P value from a t statistic?
Enter the t statistic and degrees of freedom, then choose the appropriate two-sided or one-sided alternative. The P value is calculated from the Student t distribution.
Can I calculate standard error from a confidence interval?
Yes, when the interval was constructed using a compatible normal/Wald or t-based method. The converter asks which interval type applies rather than silently assuming a normal interval.
Can I convert a Welch t statistic to Cohen’s d?
Not uniquely from the t statistic and group sample sizes alone using the pooled-SD definition. The tool explains when additional group summary statistics are required.
Are my statistical values uploaded?
No. Calculations are performed locally in your browser, and the values entered into the converter are not sent to Blazon Scientific for calculation.
Validation, methodology and privacy
The calculation engine passed 215 automated checks covering numerical accuracy, boundary conditions, invalid inputs and diagnostic behaviour. Independent base-R cross-validation also passed 177/177 output comparisons within the pre-specified tolerances. Read the validation and methodology →
